From its founding in the year 1900, La Progresiva Presbyterian School has served thousands of families as an institution of educational excellence and ministry of Jesus Christ. Under Dr. Robert Wharton's leadership the school became one of the most prestigious schools in all of Cuba. Following the rise of the Communist regime, La Progresiva was forced to close its doors in Cárdenas in 1961; yet the spirit and ideals of the school lived on. Ten years later La Progresiva reopened in Miami, FL, thanks to the efforts of alumni and the First Spanish Presbyterian Church. With God's guidance, the school's mission continues to be the provision of quality Christian education in the 21st century and beyond.

I love teaching 5th grade, and it was such an honor to receive the Elementary Teacher of the Year award during my 5th year at La Progresiva! Now commencing my 7th year, I thank God for continually blessing me with remarkable students, even going back to my earlier teaching experiences at Florida International University and Sunset Christian Academy. Ever since joining LPS I've felt at home and been encouraged to improve my teaching pedagogy. In Dec. 2015 I earned my Master's Degree in Religious Studies, and I look forward to getting the 2017-2018 school year underway with lots of learning adventures.
