From its founding in the year 1900, La Progresiva Presbyterian School has served thousands of families as an institution of educational excellence and ministry of Jesus Christ. Under the leadership of Dr. Robert L. Wharton, the school became one of the most prestigious schools in all of Cuba. Following the rise of the Communist regime, La Progresiva was forced to close its doors in Cárdenas in 1961; yet the spirit and ideals of the school lived on. Ten years later La Progresiva reopened in Miami, FL, thanks to the efforts of alumni and the First Spanish Presbyterian Church. With God's guidance, the school's mission continues to be the provision of quality Christian education in the 21st century and beyond.
